In a recent press release, Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT) announced that it acquired the remaining 100 acres of private land within the Whipple Mountains Wilderness. Home to bighorn sheep, falcons, mule deer, and other wildlife, the Whipple Mountains Wilderness is a beautiful natural area in San Bernardino County that features a diverse landscape comprising valley floors, steep-walled canyons, and natural bridges.
With its acquisition of the final section of privately-held land in the Whipple Mountains Wilderness, MDLT has helped ensure that the entire area will be protected and open to the public for responsible use. Foundation and donor gifts, as well as support from local conservation programs, made the acquisition possible. The Bureau of Land Management will now manage the 100 acres of land acquired by MDLT.
